Mark’s Double Thick Alaia

A couple of months ago I found myself with a couple 24″ wide sheet of Paulownia.  I’d always wanted to try shaping a double thick board (usually use 3/4″ thick pieces so this would be 1 1/2″ thick) so I glued them together.  Then three months passed…and the wood sat in the rain.

Luckily, a friend and talented photographer, Mark Lee, was motivated enough to work on the piece.  Good thing he did cause this is what came out.  It looks awesome and he’s already ridden it during our last windswell at Kahana Bay.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more wind cause I really want to ride this board.  21
